HTS Core Facility
Our high-throughput screening core facility is equipped with a Beckman Biomek FXp automated liquid handling workstation with 384 and 96 multi-channnel pipetter heads, as well as an 8-channel span-8 pipetter and Cytomat plate and tip box hotel to perform most liquid handling on 96-well and 384-well plate formats. This includes making multiple daughter plates from master library plates, plating cells, adding and mixing reagents, etc.
The facility currently has a library of 20,000+ unique small molecule compounds, and a library of kinome wide siRNAs. For detections, the facility has two multimode plate readers available: a PerkinElmer TopCount mainly for luminescence and radioactivity assays, and a PerkinElmer Envision for luminescence- and fluorescence-based assays.
The facility also has a cell culture room with standard equipments to support all HTS cell-based assay needs. The facility is currently working on finding small molecule modulators of several key pathways that are involved in stem cell maintenance and differentiation under the direction of Dr. Michael Kahn.
