Flow Cytometry Core Facility
The Flow Cytometry Core Facility provides the research community with the technology to selectively phenotype and sort specific populations of cells.
The Core Facility currently maintains two cytometers, a BD LSR II analyzer and a BD FACSAria cell sorter, both of which are equipped with a 350 nm UV, a 488 nm argon laser, and a 635 nm red diode laser that will ultimately permit up to 15 parameter analysis.
Using specific fluorescent probes, researchers are able to monitor several aspects of their cell population including: phenotype, cell viability, proliferation, cell cycle and cell activation. In addition, discreet population of cells can be identified and sorted.
The Core Facility is maintained by Cindy Cunningham, an experienced director who can provide instrumentation training, assistance with data analysis and consultation for experiment design and implementation. Cindy can be contacted on (323) 442-1173 or by email at cynthia.cunningham@keck.usc.edu
