Request for Proposals: The Audrey E. Streedain Regenerative Medicine Initiative (RMI) Award at USC
A generous bequest by the Audrey E. Streedain Trust to the Department of Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine at the Keck School of Medicine of USC has established the Audrey Streedain Initiative in Regenerative Medicine. Two awards of $140,000 each will support research in the following areas:
- the development of novel animal models to study mammalian tissue repair and regeneration;
- the development of gene-directed or cell-directed treatments for mammalian tissue repair; and/or
- the identification of small molecule leads to stimulate stem cell activity and enhance tissue repair and regeneration.
Awards may cover personnel salaries (including up to $30,000 of PI salary consistent with commitment), supplies, travel (up to $2,000) and minor equipment (up to $15,000).
All USC Stem Cell-affiliated faculty with PI privileges are eligible to apply, and multi-investigator proposals with complementary expertise are encouraged. A goal of the
award is to cement new collaborative interactions and seed new funding opportunities in stem cell research and regenerative medicine at USC. Applicants should address these objectives in a short paragraph in their proposals.
Applicants should provide a five-page proposal comprising an overview of goals, aims and background for the projected research (one page), review of research team (one page) and research plan (three pages), NIH-style budget and budget justification (one page), and accompanying NIH-style biosketches for all key investigators. Where relevant, applicants should supply information on application and/or approval from IACUC, IRB or other regulatory bodies for the proposed study.
Applications are due October 1, 2015 for a funding decision by October 31, 2015 for funding January 1, 2016, contingent on appropriate approval from IACUC, IRB or other regulatory bodies. The award period is 18 months.
Applications should be submitted to Dr. Qing Liu-Michael (firstname.lastname@example.org).
